Alliance University Chancellor Madhukar Angur supports ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’
The disparity between the two genders that has existed in our country has seeped down in the very lifestyle of Indians and has become hard to eradicate, only possible when each one tries to accomplish it in their lives, says Madhukar Angur, chancellor of NIMS University. With the campaign ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) doing the rounds in the country in its full swing, Madhukar has taken the opportunity to share his opinion on the subject.
Madhukar believes that BBBP has multiple facets to it. For a successful remission of gender based discrimination, the three objectives of BBBP need to be heeded. Firstly, prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination needs to be enforced. Secondly, the country (which means every single countryman, says Madhukar) needs to ensure survival and protection of the girl child and lastly, education and participation of the girl child needs to be ensured.
The third facet of the BBBP campaign is the most important, says Madhukar. Himself the chancellor of NIMS University, he understands the value of education for women like none other. Education is the doorway to freedom and enlightenment, he says, and is working towards a more women friendly education system at NIMS.
