12 Things Most Successful People Are Driven By

Success is something everyone aspires to. Only a handful however, understand its true meaning. And even fewer embark on a difficult journey to make it happen. So what separates the best from the rest? Well, there can never be one sure shot formula to success. Successful people are driven by a number of things they value. Here's an insight into the mind of the ones who are, more often than not, victorious in whatever they do.

1. Hunger.

Successful people have a massive appetite. They are always hungry to do more, to do better, always pushing the boundaries. Not to be confused with greed, their ability to always stay hungry and stay foolish with their dreams is what makes them go all the way, sometimes even further.

2. Thinking outside the box.

The urge to do something different separates the extraordinary from the mediocre. People with a drive to succeed will take a path others haven't even thought about yet. Even if it means taking a big risk, they are up for it because they have the conviction and the confidence to back up what they think is right.

3. Their need to evolve, constantly.

If Henry Ford had retired after making the Ford Model T, we wouldn't have seen the evolution of automobiles the way we have in the last century. All the great leaders, visionaries and thinkers believe in one common thing - evolution. Evolution of ideas, thoughts and goals. One constantly needs to keep evolving.

4. Their need to make a change in society.

Like Gandhi once very correctly said, 'Be the change that you want to see in the society'. Leaders will always try to do things that will help the people. It doesn't matter how big or small, they will always be pushing to make a  difference.

5. Money.

It'll be quite foolish to ignore this. While money might not be that one reason that drives successful people, it is definitely one of the important points. Not because it's good to be wealthy, but money is required to lead life the way you want to lead it. It also gives one the freedom to do what one wants to, without being answerable to anyone.

6. Freedom.

Not to be confused with the previous point. While money is important to be free, one can only truly be free when one is free in the mind. Leaders are always free in the mind, and are open to other people's thoughts. How else would you call yourself free? If you constantly get bogged down by age old ideologies, you can never be free.

7. Innovation.

Even if they aren't directly responsible for innovative ideas, successful people will always keep the ones who have talent close to them. For they know the value of their assets, and will go to any extent to keep the people helping them innovate, happy.

8. Recognition.

Being recognised plays a huge part in keeping leaders going. Knowing that they are doing something right, and that they have the support of the people acts as a big push on their road to reaching their goals.

9. Insanity.

Don't get the wrong idea here, but one has to be a crackpot at some level. To be insane enough to keep going even when the world tells you it's foolish.

10. Their ability to delay gratification.

Gratification

The ability to resist the temptation for an immediate reward and wait for a later reward is what differentiates successful people from the rest. Would you rather eat two chocolates now, or wait for an hour and get 4 chocolates? If you chose the latter, then you have what it takes to be a successful person.

11. Passion.

Poor is a man who doesn't have a passion in his life. One has to be passionate, no matter what you're doing. Whether it's work, play or party, one has to love and care about what they do. Like Lakshmi here.

12. Knowledge.

You might find a famous idiot (you'll find many in fact), but you'll never come across a successful idiot. To be successful, one needs to keep learning from people who inspire them, from books, from their own mistakes. For one never stops learning.
