How To Be Happy & Successful : be ilahi

Some of us feel like we were just made to do something more with our lives. Some of us know what that something is. But some don’t. It took me a while (a few years actually) to figure out what my mission is in life. And it took my good friend, Marie Forleo, a few years as well. But what is undeniable is that if you are focused, passionate, and determined, you can do that something more. No obstacle is too big and no problem is unsolvable.

Marie is an incredibly focused and successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, thought leader and coach. When we sat down in New York City to discuss her journey and her current business, B School, I wanted to ask her about the process of following her own passion to her incredible success today.

You will not be disappointed with the answers.

Marie shared her best nuggets of wisdom about business, relationships, finding your passion, and how to find joy along the way. It’s very common to want success now. We want to be healthy and wealthy and happy and we want instant gratification. The problem is that instant gratification sets us up to be unhappy. You are always looking ahead to something in the future that will make you happy but when you achieve it you aren’t satisfied.

Success takes time. And creating a business you love sometimes takes more than one try.

Here are Marie’s tips for being the most successful entrepreneur or business owner you can be:

1. Have A Daily Routine

Have a list of things that you do that jump start your day in a positive way and do them every morning before you get started on work. Marie’s morning routine involves meditation, a green smoothie, and exercise. She also has an evening routine that involves making a to-do list for the next day. It allows her to begin each workday with clarity and strength.

2. Identify Your Definition Of Success

Clarify what success looks like for YOU. Create a clear picture of what success would look like in your perfect world and use that as the guide to growing your business and life.

3. Find The Right Team

Find the right people to support you. Even if it’s one assistant or one team player. You need someone that gets the culture of your company, that is on board with your vision and what you stand for and is excited to help you bring it to life.

4. Stop Comparing

It’s never going to feel good to compare yourself to others, even if it’s easy to do. You know which people trigger your insecurities. So don’t let them. If you’re following people on social media that you often compare yourself to, unfollow them. Stay focused on what you want. If you have that clear vision of success for yourself, it’s so much easier to stay in your own game.

5. Don’t Forget About Your Customers And Audience

It’s easy to get caught up in what you want your business to look like, what you want your content or images to portray. How do you want your customers to experience your product or brand? How do you want them to talk about you in the world?

6. Practice Gratitude. Often.

All of us have challenging times in our life, things go wrong, everything hits the fan, we all feel like failures, we feel frustrated. Don’t allow yourself to be miserable. What happens if you stop and take a look around to see what you should be grateful for? Gratitude is the biggest transformational tool there is. When you take time to recognize things that you have to be grateful for, you can really start to figure out what the next step is to propel you forward in a positive way.

Marie has such a huge passion for helping others that there’s no question about why she is successful. Take her wisdom to heart and play to your strengths. Only then will the world get the contribution that only you can make.
