Microsoft experiments with storing data in DNA

Microsoft has partnered with San Francisco-based startup Twist Bioscience to experiment with using synthetic DNA as a means to store digital data. For this, Microsoft is buying 10 million strands of laboratory-made DNA molecules from the startup. According to Harvard scientists, about 700 terabytes can be stored on one gram of DNA, that can reportedly stay readable till 10,000 years.
