Udta Punjab passed by CBFC with ‘A’ certificate: Pahlaj Nihalani
Udta Punjab has been passed by the Central Board of Film
Certification (CBFC) with an ‘A’ certificate, CBFC head, Pahlaj Nihalani said
on Sunday. He further said that reports of CBFC asking for ‘Punjab’ to be
removed from the movie’s title are false. The Bombay High Court will give its
verdict on Monday.
Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit
Dosanjh’s Udta Punjab, a film on the growing drug addiction among the youth of
Punjab, has been levied 40 cuts by the CBFC.
The makers of “Udta Punjab” have been at loggerheads with
the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after it reportedly suggested 89
cuts to the film. Since then, many known celebrities from the entertainment
industry have come out in strong support of the film while demanding the
removal of CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani.
