Zac Efron tinder fail : He get no swipes as most think to be his fake profile
ZAC Efron has opened up about his dating struggles, revealing he even tried out Tinder after breaking up with his girlfriend of two years, Sami Miro.
But believe it or not, the 28-year-old actor has admitted to UK paper The Times that he’s had absolutely no luck with dating apps.
“Amazingly, when I signed up for Tinder, nobody swiped me!” he said. “They thought (my profile) was fake.”
The Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates star says his celebrity status is preventing him from ever forming a real connection with someone — because they feel like they already know him.
“Dating is something I’ll never be able to do,” he said.
“As in the dictionary definition of dating, because one way or another I’ve impacted that person’s life and they’ll soon realise it. A date has to be very long to dispel whatever people think of me.”
It’s a problem that must have plagued Efron for years; he burst onto the scene at the ripe age of 18 as the lead in the wildly successful High School Musical franchise.
He’s since been linked to a string of famous women, including Vanessa Hudgens, Lily Collins and Michelle Rodriguez.
Efron also opened up about taking his kit off — revealing while he’s clearly not averse to ditching the shirt on-screen, he’s hoping it will help him earn his stripes to move on to bigger things.
“I want to earn the evolution. To earn something, you’ve got to go all out,” he said.
In other words, he knows he can’t be afraid to make himself the butt of the joke.
“Take your shirt off. Know you’re a douchebag. Make an idiot of yourself. Then reap the benefits. What you get by doing this is street cred, then you get to work with great directors,” he said.
“I need to meet somebody face-to-face, then I can earn that dramatic cool role, that good role.”
