Pluto: NASA Releases Closest Photos of Dwarf Planet's Surface to Date


The new images were taken by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft in July and released on Friday. The photos were captured around 10,000 miles from the surface, the closest photos of Pluto yet.

The next set of high-res images are being prepped for release, so while we wait, relax this wknd reading our latest New Horizons blog.
It's all about movie-making for ‪#‎PlutoFlyby‬.
Guest blogging is Constantine Tsang, a senior research scientist at theSouthwest Research Institute in ‪#‎Boulder‬, Colorado. Con was a member of the New Horizons’ Geology, Geophysics Investigations (GGI) and Composition teams during the #PlutoFlyby, creating approach and photometric stereo movies of ‪#‎Pluto‬’s terrain.
