Serco loses £100 million on sale of call centres
When Serco bought Intelenet, the Indian call centres and
back-office personnel provider, for £350 million in 2011, its chief executive
talked about the deal being a step towards the FTSE 100 outsourcer becoming “a
leading global services company”.
Four years on, and with that chief executive, Christopher
Hyman, gone in disgrace over multiple Serco foul-ups, the Indian business has
been sold back to Blackstone Partners, its previous private equity owner —
which made a mint on the original transaction
